RESPONSIBILITIES OF PARENTS AND STUDENT-ATHLETE

Parents/Legal Guardians and Student-Athletes

  • Parents/legal guardians and student-athletes must adhere to all NCHSAA and CMS athletic eligibility policies/regulations.
  • Parents/legal guardians of student-athletes are required to pay a participation fee per sport. Paperwork can be submitted for student-athletes who meet the criteria for waiver consideration.
  • Parents/legal guardians and student-athletes are required to attend a pre-season meeting at the school prior to the fall, winter and spring sport seasons and complete all necessary athletic eligibility paperwork.
  • Student-athletes are required to sign the Student-Athlete Honor Code.
  • Parents/legal guardians of student-athletes are required to sign the Parent Honor Code.
  • Student-athletes must receive a health screening each year (395 days) by a licensed physician, nurse practitioner or physician assistant.
  • Parents and/or student-athletes must not accept prizes, merchandise, money or any item that can be exchanged for money as a result of athletic participation.
  • Student-athletes may not, as an individual or as a team, practice during the school day or on Sunday.
  • Student-athletes may only attend summer camps to which the athlete or his/her parents pay the fees.
